Velata Freezer Meal Workshops

What has evolved from a little conversation in September at Velata convention with a few other consultants led to a lot of work and now a HUGE positive response.... I'm happy to share VELATA Freezer Meal Workshops with all of you!

I'm sure you've maybe attended or at least heard of freezer meal prep. What a fantastic way for busy families or even tired mamas and dads to have a meal ready when 6:00pm rolls around after a long day of work and running kids.

I couldn't wait to book something and so I did just that. I just held my very first Velata freezer meal workshop with 9 friends last Sunday. I learned a lot bu we all had so much fun each making 8 freezer meals that all you have to do is put in the crock pot 6 hours before you're ready to chow down! Genius.

Here's how it works:

JOIN FACEBOOK GROUP PAGE: Velata Freezer Meal Parties Brainstorming Group is a FAST growing group where consultants are committed to sharing ideas and recipes for freezer meals using Velata products. Join the group and CONTRIBUTE to content of the page. Many hands make light work.

ADVERTISE: You have to get 8-10 people to interested and COMMITTED to doing your workshop about 2 weeks before the actual date. I used the following photos to help me promote the idea.

COLLECT PAYMENT: In order for you to order the product and not allow guests to back out, you must collect payment 2 weeks prior to party. I have found the best way is to send an invoice through PayPal. Accounts are free and collecting and transferring payment is fast. There is a small fee but it's worth it for me. You can add 6% to their 'Pantry Pack' total to cover shipping costs.

PLACE YOUR VELATA ORDER: Once you have collected payment from ALL participants, you can place your Velata order.  You will definitely have enough to place an actual PARTY order. This means that if you're the host of the workshop, you are earning FREE and HALF PRICE Velata product. If you have a host, those can belong to her OR you can offer her 'Pantry Pack' for free OR offer her to use the half price item.

SEND OUT YOUR SHOPPING LIST: Each workshop participant must bring their own groceries. You will have a shopping list that you will email out to each individual participant after receiving their payment. Prices of their groceries will vary.... some may have frozen meat already in freezer, some will only purchase organic, some will shop for everything, some will have most on hand. The prices vary so when asked, I share just that.

PREP FOR PARTY: You need to have enough utensils, knives, cutting boards, measuring cups, measuring spoons, liquid measuring cups, can openers, garbage cans, tables and a large bowl per participant available. I found quite the variety at my local dollar store. I purchased some there, some at amazon and some at Target. You also need to have enough gallon freezer bags - 8 per participant. You will see the labels on the facebook page and the recipes. I printed all of the labels out and placed them on the freezer bag prior to the workshop. I also printed out each recipe so the participants could take home a copy of them to use the rest of their 'Pantry Pack.' That's the whole goal for me and us as consultants.... getting our product into our friends and customers hands and teach them HOW to use our product EVERY DAY. There are a few ingredients that I supplied for the workshop too. Make sure you have plenty and you double check the shopping list.

DAY OF PARTY: Be a helper! Help wash vegetables & utensils, share ideas on how else to use our products and listen to the laughter and conversation. My friends loved this! You can also showcase other Velata products - cook a snack on raclette, make some crepes, sweets and chocolate or snacks with cheese.... share what Velata is and why you love it! Show your customers how they can use Velata every single day.

Now that I've done one, I feel prepared to do many more. In fact I already have 2 more workshops filled and 3 girls want to host their own! I know this is going to be HUGE for our Velata businesses. Are you willing to put in a little extra work up from to help your business take off? Women and moms want this.... they NEED this. Be the one who helps them and you'll see AMAZING results.

Here is a little note from one of my friends:
Hey Jari I just wanted to thank you SO MUCH for the wonderful cooking event on Sunday. We already tried two of the meals and they were both delicious! I wanted to cry because it was the first time I did not feel STRESSED out trying to cook something in 30 min or less because we had to run out the door or we came home late. Thank you again. This was truly a blessing.

November Giving Challenge

I can hardly believe that November is over a third of the way over. How can time go this fast? How is your month looking for sales? Parties? Team building?

Did you know... and you can share... that if someone joins Scentsy this month and sells over 1000 PRV by the end of the month, they will get $250 (minimum) in commissions JUST IN TIME FOR CHRISTMAS SHOPPING! Share this image and share the opportunity!

Another thing we are doing for our team in November is collecting canned food and items needed for your local food bank. While at your parties, you can ask each guest to bring a bag of canned food. Maybe host an open house and admission is a can of goods. Host a team meeting and each person bring their collected cans - maybe the consultant with the most wins a prize. Ask your friends and neighbors to donate a few cans or items and you'll pick them up. Let me know how many pounds you donate to your local food bank, show photo of receipt, and you'll earn a gift from me!

Scentsy Family is also doing a Thanksgiving Challenge! Check out this video:

Let's see which state can get the most! So remember to #ScentsyGive(Your State or Province) and also #TroopofStars. This is going to be fun!

I'll start us off!

XO.

Ready to Order Labels

Need a fresh idea for some labels?

I ran out of the Scentsy Family labels (package of 1000 for $39) which I absolutely loved. But I had about 6 parties that were going to be delivered before I could get more labels. So I needed to make my own.

Using Rhonna Designs app and Avery Design online, I created these cute little labels.

I am using the Avery white mailing address labels. The 1" x 2 3/4" - 30 to a sheet.

I like that I can personalize it. Asking or reminding each customer to contact me when they need more.

If you're interested in using this logo, please do. Then go to Avery online to personalize with your info.

Nutcracker - A Touch of Tradition

Mr Nutcracker and his little sidekick ornament buddy are only available while supplies last.

The price for the set is $60 US. Only 25,000 made. These little men are available for purchase through your website only through the end of the day tomorrow. If you're considering purchasing one, don't delay. I have a feeling once they are available to be ordered via the workstation, they won't last long at all!

Written by Amy Knight (and my thoughts exactly... "Okay, so who ordered a Nutcracker? I just did! I know is a collectible so is higher priced, and I know I don't need it, but I still had to have one!! If any of you are struggling with the decision...it helped me to know I really only paid $45 before tax and shipping because of the commission I will make (I am at 25%)!"

Every year Scentsy will release a Limited Edition warmer to add to the collection. This is year one. The first ever collectible warmer/ornament combo.

Some will want it... Some won't. What about you?

Product Packing after Party.

Ive been packing up my customer orders the same way for almost 6 years... So I felt it was time for change. The one part of the process of a party that really made me cringe was the packing up part. It would take me hours and I was never organized or always running out of tulle or crinkle paper. So I thoight of this new way.  Let me know what you think.

I purchased these kraft bags in bulk from papermart.com along with the tissue paper and some washi tape.
The cards used are the 3x4 cards out of a Project Life scrapbooking kit (found at Michaels or BeckyHiggins.com)

I write a little note to each customer to personally thank them for their order and loyalty and voila! In no time I can have a party ready to fly out the door!

How do you package your orders to set yourself apart from other consultants?

Spooky (or Sweet!) Halloween Samples

I remember when I first started selling Scentsy, each year at Halloween I would pass out wax samples to the parents of each trick or treater.

For some reason, maybe laziness, I got complacent and stopped doing the everyday fun things that I did to really boost by business. I had stopped 'getting out of my comfort zone.' I had stopped being so brave.

This past year I realized that it's time to set boundaries and time to be brave again.

After seeing my sister and Director, Jenna O'Grady's Halloween handouts I knew I wanted to make some to pass out too! I mean how could you not?! Aren't these the most precious things you've ever seen?
The little candy fold outs where found at Dollar Tree. You get six in each package.
I used the silicone mold from the Scentsy Family Store for my samples. Warning: these do take lots of wax so be prepared to use a few bars. I think for a special occasion like this, it's totally worth it!
Then I made this little wallet size card to slip in with the wax sample. I used Rhonna Designs app on my iPhone (available in Android and maybe even Windows now too!) it's one of my favorite apps!

Notice too how I used two different fragrances to make a cute little recipe. Simply poor the wax half way up the mold, wait for it to cool completely, then poor the other scent the rest of the way.
Remember to add your business card... Preferrably with your photo. There is just something about a photo that people don't want to throw away. Business card magnet?! Even better!
You can right click and save this photo and use it for yourself if you'd like!

Happy Halloween and have fun with those trick or treaters!

Think PINK October Team Challenge

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month. As a Scentsy Family team, we are joining together to raise for breast cancer research.

What does that mean for you? It means that you have the opportunity to promote and sell our current charitable cause warmer, Ribbons of Hope. $7 from every sale of this warmer will go directly to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc.

In addition to selling these beautiful warmers, you can use your parties and events to talk about breast cancer research and early detection. Take cash donations in addition to your customer's orders. Here's a great resource on Myths and Facts about Breast Cancer.

If you know someone currently fighting breast cancer, host a fundraising party just for her. Make it a celebration! Use Velata to create pink themed snacks.

At the end of the month, we'll be collecting any cash donations you've received from customers, hosts, friends, and family. The consultant on our team with the most money raised (in addition to the Ribbons of Hope warmers sold....those will count for $7 each), will win a happy mail Pink themed bundle.

I'm excited about this challenge. It's a way for us to spread the word about breast health and breast cancer awareness and a great way for us to support those people we know personally who are currently fighting breast cancer.

{If you do have a person in mind that you would like to collect donations for during this challenge, we would love for you to do that. Simply keep track of your donations so you can participate in our challenge, but instead of turning the money into me, donate your money raised directly to the individual.}

The NEW Scentsy Standards

We know the last thing you want to do is spend your precious time slogging through 50 pages of legalese.Yawn! So we've rewritten, revamped, and dramatically reduced our Independent Consultant Agreement to not only roll out a few changes, but to also make it more streamlined and FUN. You know we're all about simplicity around here!

We've also given the Agreement a fresh, new name: Scentsy Standards. (Policies and Procedures is sooo2013.)

Breeze through the new Scentsy Standards (click the links here for U.S. Consultants and for Canada Consultants) on the Resources tab of your Workstation now before it all goes into effect Sept. 1, 2014. (The U.S. Spanish and Canada French versions, as well as new Velata Standards, will be coming soon!)

To make it all even easier, we've created a new searchable document on the Support tab of your Workstation, complete with FAQs to get down to the basics of how the new Scentsy Standards work in your day-to-day business operations.

Still not convinced a legal agreement can be fun? Here's what your fellow Consultants had to say:

  • Brittany C.: "This makes me so happy! The tone is chipper hopeful and helpful. ... How can this not set up a new consultant for success! It's so easy to read!"
  • Kay D.: "I am thrilled with this new version! ... I love the insertion of humor! I truly do think this is going to be a fabulous tool for everyone!"

Check it out!

Wahoo Wednesday! August 13, 2014
